How Far Along:
24 weeks
Due Date:
June 13th,
2013 (ish)
Boy or girl:
We shall see upon
arrival! At first I was always telling
everyone that we would love to have a boy, but would be happy with either. Though that is still true, I feel like I truly
am at a point where I would love to have either. There are so many positives either way. Obviously it would be nice to add a baby boy
to our family since we already have a wonderful little girl, but then I also
think about the fact that I never had a sister so that could be a really
special thing for Alethea (and our family) as well. Plus we already have all the stuff and know
what to do with girls, lol.

Baby Development:
At week 24, baby's see-through skin is
gradually becoming less translucent and is starting to look more opaque, like
your own, but with the beauty of a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries
that have recently formed. Plus, baby’s getting heavier and now weighs 12.7 to
20.8 ounces. She's 10.5- to 11.8 inches long now, too -- nearly an entire foot!
There's a lot happening inside baby as well, and while baby’s lungs have developed, they couldn't work outside of the womb yet. But the fact that baby’s lungs are fully formed means that baby’s closer to being ready to survive (and thrive!) in the outside world!

Symptoms:
I really feel like
one of the biggest symptoms of late is simply increased movement on baby’s
part. The pregnancy has been just as
easy going as it was with Alethea. I am
beginning to notice more signs up hip pain if I push it too much but, with
running regularly, that is really minimal so far. And I am going to start at the chiropractor
next month hoping to do some preventative treatment for that as well as prep
for birth.
Currently craving:
I am not sure that
cravings really exist. I think I want
things just like I would when not pregnant and just have to keep reminding
myself that just because I am pregnant doesn’t right me the ticket to stop
being healthy. But don’t get me wrong, I
love me some ice cream, pizza, and cookies every once in a while, but that is
no different from normal life, lol.
Currently Avoiding:
Nothing.
Belly button status:
In, but it never went
out with Alethea so I am not anticipating it this time around either.
Movement:
Feeling lots of it,
particularly after meals or if I am wearing something with an elastic
band. Baby is not a fan of pressure on
the abdomen and tends to “fight” back, lol.
Name:
We have pretty much
narrowed down the girl name choice and the boy’s name is narrowed down for me,
but Ben wants more time to think about it. J
Any appointments?:
Glucose
test/appointment March 6th and I am bringing 100% OJ not from
concentrate (1 ingredient) instead of the ridiculous orange toxins they
provide.
Any baby related
purchases?:
Nothing this week,
but I am happy to say that we have all of our newborn fluff stash. Now I am just trying to keep myself from
prepping it as long as I can because I am dying to get it all ready to be worn.
J We also have a going
home outfit for either gender. I am trying to reign in the planner in me so I
have stuff to do later in the pregnancy.
Alethea:
She still doesn’t
really know what is going on, but I have purchased some new baby books off of
half.com and she is really enjoying them so far. She knows there is a baby in my belly, but I
am not sure she really gets what that means since she thinks she has one in her
belly too, lol.
Fun post! Excited for you all! Elijah thinks he has a baby in his belly too and daddy as well - haha!
