1 Month
Darn thing is sideways, but she is still cute :-)
Weight: 8lbs
12.3oz
Height: 21 inches
(so tiny compared to both Alethea and Declan!)
Clothing: She
is still fitting a lot of her newborn clothes and, though big, she can wear
some of her 0-3 month/3 month clothing. We just have to do some rolling up
sleeves and pants legs on the bigger stuff right now.
Diapers: We
started with a few dipes that the hospital sent us home with as well as one pack
of newborn dipes we bought. Then after a
few days we just used them at night and started using our prefolds and covers
and a few all-in-ones. She is such a
peanut that, even though we tried to use our one-size dipes on her, they still
leak on the legs sometimes. I use them
for night time anyway because they are easier to use in the dark. J
Eating: I am
nursing him exclusively and plan to do so until at least 6 months and then we
will see how it goes from there. She is
just like her brother and sister and doesn’t eat as much as a typical newborn. At most she nursed 8 times a 24 hour period,
but a typical day involves only 7 times.
During the day we are typically waking her up to eat, lol. Thankfully she seems to be gaining plenty of
weight so no worries on that front. A
typical feeding schedule is 830/9am, 1130am/12pm, 230/3pm, 5/530pm, 8pm, 1/2am,
5/6am, and then back up at 830/9am again.
Friendships: Still
too young to tell, but the feelings will probably be mutual one day because her
brother and sister adore her.
Mobility: She
has pretty good head control, but other than that it is just lots of wiggles
for now.
Sleeping: She
loves her sleep which is so nice to have another good sleeper. She typically gets about 15 or 16 hours of
sleep in 24hours, not including the catnaps she takes while nursing. Like I said earlier, he loves his sleep,
especially swaddled with hands by his face.
Her average time awake is about 1hour
to an hour and a half, most of which is filled with eating. We try follow the eat-wake-sleep pattern
(except at night) so she usually eats and then takes anywhere from a 45 minute
to 2 hour nap. Occasionally she doesn’t cooperate and so it takes a few times
to get her down to sleep. At night I was
waking her up at 5 hours but, once she regained her birth weight, I started
letting her just wake up on her terms.
In the last week of the month she started going anywhere from 5 to 7
hours between feedings starting at 8pm and then the rest of the night she goes
3-4 hours.
Playtime: She
doesn’t do much to play other than lots of looking at faces and the occasional
floor/tummy time. Just like her brother she is typically pretty stoic so we
haven’t gotten many genuine smiles out of her yet. Most of them occur in her sleep. J
Teeth: None
yet, thankfully!
Random: Her
cord stump fell off the day before she turned 2 weeks old. She is our loudest sleeper yet and loves to
grunt and squeak all night, lol. She
started smiling this month, but not really in response to faces yet, they are
more random. She celebrated his first St. Patricks
Day on the 17th. She also had her first bath at 3
weeks and hated it.
