1. We moved into our first temporary home
of the year after selling our house December 2012. We rented a townhome until Bens time was done
in the Navy since the house sold so much sooner than we expected. This month also commemorated Alethea’s
transition from diapers to undies for good.
2. In February, we celebrated Alethea’s
second birthday. After all the craziness
of moving, adjusting to a new home, and being 5 months pregnant, we decided to
keep it simple. We had a few family
members in town for a homemade cookie cake, pizza, and Minnie Mouse décor.
3. March marked the beginning of interviews
for Ben in hopes of getting a job in the Louisville area and Alethea’s first
Easter egg hunt (around the townhome, but still fun).
4. Ben finished his Professional Masters in
Business Administration (PMBA) at University of South Carolina in April. This was a big sigh of relief for our family!
5. Ben and Cori both celebrated our 28th
birthdays (Ben in April, Cori in May) this year and we also celebrated 6 years
of marriage (May 12th). Ben also had three nose surgeries to correct
breathing problems he was having, but we think it is finally fixed.
6. June 18th, 2013 at 12:15am
Declan Timothy Hill joined our family at 8lbs 9oz, 20.5 inches. We have had so
much fun as a family of four and couldn’t imagine life any other way. He is such a happy kiddo and all of us,
including Alethea, love him to pieces.
7. In July, we took our first trip as a
family of four when we accompanied Ben to Louisville for a job interview for
what ended up being the job he accepted with Louisville Gas and Electric. (We didn’t find out he got the job until 2
months later though!) We then ventured
to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to celebrate Ben’s sister’s marriage to Andrew. We gained a brother-in-law and two nephews
all in one day. J
8. August was a month of goodbyes and
transition. After saying goodbye to many
good friends and a place we called home for four years, we packed up all of our
things and moved to Louisville, KY, our new home. We moved in with Cori’s parents and
grandparents for our second temporary home while waiting on our home we were
building to be completed.
9. Ben started his new job with LG&E
September 9th. He absolutely
loves it so far. It is the perfect fit
for him and we are so thankful that we were patient in trusting the Lord
because He truly had the best plan for us (even though we had no idea at the
time). His job varies from day to day
traveling between his downtown office and the 6 power plants. He has been working on project and having fun
climbing in and out of boilers and other crazy things at the plants.
10. Alethea went trick or treating for the
first time this year. She was a
Louisville cheerleader and had a blast running from house to house. This month also marked the beginning (and
potentially the end) of our search for a church and we are currently attending
a church we really feel we can join together with to serve the Lord.
11. On November 15th we moved
into our brand new house in LaGrange, KY.
It was most definitely worth the waiting to have our dream house! We have had fun unpacking and making it feel
more and more like home each day.
12. To wrap up, here’s how much the kiddos
have grown this year (as of late November):
Alethea grew 3.75inches and gained 7lbs.
Declan grew 6.25inches and gained 7lbs 13.4oz.
